The reality of joining a franchise: voices from within Alchemy VA
There’s something powerful about hearing directly from the people building businesses inside the Alchemy VA franchise network. Our franchise network continues to grow and for many, the decision to go for it can be swayed by fully getting to grips with how the training is so encompassing. Let’s delve into how our franchise partners have found their training and how it’s supported their business journeys.
Virtual Assistant Launch training: clarity, confidence and belief...
For many Franchise Partners, the launch period is where everything begins to take shape, not just practically, but personally. Melanie Pollard describes a process that was both comprehensive and grounding:
“It helped me to understand very comprehensively the process of being a Franchise Partner from start to finish. From understanding my own personal reasons for taking this on, to understanding my ideal client and how to appeal to them - to how to market myself/raise my brand awareness, to networking and using LinkedIn, to the client journey as well as keeping the sales pipeline healthy - everything I could have needed to know. The main message I took from my training was that Suzy and Paul are there to support us all on this journey - just knowing that I had that support, that somebody had my back and was cheerleading me all the way was and remains invaluable.”
For Heather Walker, the impact was more immediate and came through with personal confidence and a sense of safety in the learning process:
Confidence particularly around talking about my business and pitching.
Helped me to define what I wanted to offer and who I wanted to support.
Enjoyed understanding the processes around the client journey.
The ‘classroom’ always felt a safe place to try things and share ideas.
And for Laura Barley, the experience is distilled into something simpler, but no less significant — belief:
“The overarching feeling was of belief. I was, of course, nervous about launching my own Virtual Assistant business - particularly being the only income earner in the house. Suzy's belief and positivity was infectious and really made me believe in myself.”
The support and community behind the business...
Beyond training, it is often the ongoing support and wider community that defines the experience of being part of Alchemy VA.
Mel reflects on the importance of that continued presence:
“The support goes above and beyond - knowing that there is someone there to celebrate successes and give support on a tough day makes a huge difference to my journey as a business owner. Alchemy strives to bring together all the Franchise Partners regularly to share advice and tips and it truly feels like a team”
Heather highlights something more cultural the way individuality is respected within the structure of the franchise:
“Everyone is valued as an individual and encouraged to run their business how best suits them with support and not judgement.”
For Laura, the value lies in connection, having people around her who understand both the freedom and responsibility of running her own business:
“I value having others to go to the most about Alchemy. I love the fact that it's my business and I'm free to run it how I choose and when I choose - but I have always got back up there from Suzy and Paul, not to mention the other hub managers who have generally been through similar experiences, and my associates who know far more about certain things than I do, and always keep me right!”
What future Franchise Partners should know...
When asked what they would want others to understand about Alchemy VA, each response points to something slightly different, but equally consistent in tone.
Mel’s clear in that she feels being part of a franchise and one with such a great team is always much better!
Heather focuses on the balance of expertise and humanity. “With Alchemy you get support with wisdom and experience but also care and compassion.”
Laura concludes and says that if there’s one thing that future franchise partners should know is that there was just no hesitation in my mind when it came to the question of me renewing.
Taken together, these reflections highlight something consistent at the heart of the Alchemy VA franchise experience: structure paired with support, independence alongside guidance, and business ownership grounded in community.
It is not just about launching a Virtual Assistant business, we know that it brings lots of questions and nerves but we support you by building confidence, connection, and a sense that you are not doing it alone.
