Knitting together ten years of Alchemy Virtual Assistance
Throughout 2026 Alchemy VA's remarkable Franchise Partners have been working on some incredible initiatives to give more back to their local communities to mark our tenth year in business.
With more initiatives and events still to come, so far this year we’ve collectively raised over £3,000 for charitable causes close to our hearts.
We’ve done this through:
a marathon distance walk across the North West of the UK to raise funds for CODYS (a youth theatre group in Warrington)
a 400 ft abseil challenge to raise funds for The Lewis Foundation (spreading happiness to adult cancer patients across the midlands)
bringing the Northampton business community together for a big quiz night in aid of Warwick and Midlands Air Ambulance.
The autumn will see yet another memorable and meaningful event - a Scottish Gala Dinner in aid of Meningitis Now taking place on 4th September 2026 at the Moulsdale Foundation, Glasgow. But, today, we are shining a light on another purposeful & creative initiative led by one of our trusted Franchise Partners to drive more kindness across our communities...
Lisa Keefe, Virtual Assistant Franchise Partner for Swindon, has been knitting squares that will be sewn together into blankets for the dogs and cats at Battersea Dogs & Cats Home.

What started as a simple act of kindness has also become a way of reconnecting with someone very special...
"My late Gran taught me to knit when I was little. She was always happiest when she was making something, keeping busy, or helping someone else. As I've picked up my knitting needles again, I've found myself thinking about the time we spent together and the many things she taught me, often without even realising it.
Knitting has become a quiet escape. It's calming, mindful, and gives me space to reflect. Rather than focusing on what's been lost, I find comfort in feeling close to my Gran through a skill she passed on to me.
I love watching each square come together, knowing it'll eventually become part of a blanket for an animal in need. It's amazing how something so small can make such a difference. This experience has also reminded me that giving back doesn't have to be financial, or mean making a big gesture. Sometimes it's simply about sharing a skill, giving your time, or creating something with care.
Whether it's knitting, sewing, baking, gardening or volunteering, every act of kindness matters.
For me, every square is stitched with love, happy memories and gratitude. I'd like to think my Gran would smile if she could see me now. I'll keep knitting, one square at a time, knowing that somewhere a dog or cat will be a little warmer because of it."
Sometimes it's the simplest acts of kindness that mean the most.
