Client Case Study - Virtual Assistant Support for Adviserly

THE CHALLENGE

You can’t be everywhere all at once.

The sense of simply not having enough time in the day to get everything done was the reality for Rob. He didn’t have the capacity to meet the practical day to day operational needs of Adviserly, challenges were starting to surface from inefficient processes and Rob couldn’t risk standards slipping, let alone make the time or headspace to drive future growth.

Finding someone to work with who he could truly rely on was a challenge. Someone who understands the tasks and requirements. Someone who has the ability to listen, question and consult with Rob to ensure that things were done on time and well.

Rob first met Magda at a co-working brunch with the Othership community. Magda opened his eyes to the value the right Virtual Assistant can bring, and he started to realise that it was an approach many others in his network had taken and benefited from.

Before engaging with Magda, Rob had a less than positive experience with a Virtual Assistant, which naturally tainted his view and eroded his confidence. But seeing & speaking with Magda regularly restored his faith that a Virtual Assistant could be a viable and valuable solution.

THE IMPACT

Magda allows Rob to focus on legal work to fund the business and not at the detriment to Adviserly or it’s growing network of members. Magda relieves Rob of the smaller scale activities and frees him up to be much more creative & strategic with the development and growth of Adviserly.
Quickly establishing an efficient working relationship, Magda has embedded a weekly planning call to foster transparency, communication, accountability and alignment. Rob finds these calls helpful, citing how everything is always ‘very straightforward’ with Magda.

Member communication & engagement has been an area of primary focus. Magda has taken responsibility for member engagement – setting up events, creating emails and reminders. As well as liaising to compile newsletters, ensuring milestones and deadlines are met, alongside managing inboxes, coordinating meetings and events, maintaining databases and fostering meaningful member interactions.

Beyond the day-to-day administration, more longer-term project work is also being progressed to support Rob’s future growth plans. Time and focus has been given to the a sales pipeline, including outreach and following up with prospective members.

When reflecting on what makes the relationship between Adviserly & Alchemy VA work so well, Rob states that the professional relationship Magda has built with him as the biggest factor. Everything remains very transparent and open, Rob trusts Magda implicitly and has grown to rely on her knowing that she ALWAYS gets things done how and when she says she will. This allows Rob to not only maximise the efficiency of his working days but also brings with it great peace of mind.

THE RECOMMENDATION

Without Magda, Rob believes he would have passively continued his search for the ‘right’ Virtual Assistant – a quest that easily takes up time and naturally would have become a lower priority with an already demanding workflow.

If Rob could offer any advice to someone considering taking on an Alchemy VA, specifically Magda, it would be this…

“If you want to get stuff off your plate, get on with it! Delegate more and maximise the efficiency of your day. With Magda, you pull on a lever and you get a result! You can rely on her. She’s great, five star!”
THE CAUSE

Robert Flint is the Founder & CEO of Adviserly, the global referral network of boutique law firms and is also a practising corporate lawyer.

As a corporate lawyer in big London law firms, Rob became disillusioned about how “Big Law” operated, emphasising internal politics rather than client service. The lack of collaboration, huge workloads, dissatisfied clients and burnt-out lawyers made him think that there must be a better way.
He started consulting for boutique firms which provide a personalised service that clients love, but they face a unique set of challenges too. Running a small business is tough.

Adviserly enables boutique and niche practices to grow through inbound and outbound referrals in a community of like minded, entrepreneurial lawyers.

After studying at the University of Cambridge and BBP London, Rob trained as a corporate lawyer and now advises startups and scaleups on their funding rounds. Rob previously worked as an adviser to a UK government minister and as a volunteer police officer.

Rob is also the author of ‘Working with Strangers’, a book to help businesses service providers build their careers and grow their businesses through referral strategies, and the power of the collaboration.
